COLLEAGUE B

"The peregrines don't have many predators, so I think it's probably something in their environment. Many species, not just birds, show a population decline due to habitat loss. You might check if there have been changes in the birds' nesting areas, like the development of human houses or shopping malls."

"It could also be something in the environment that is making the birds sick: either a disease, or some kind of toxic poisoning."

What will your next step be?
  A. Learn more about peregrines.
  B. Ask another researcher how to begin.
  C. Learn more about how to make a hypothesis.
  D. Make your hypothesis.
