Career Connections

This career connections flowchart may be printed and distributed to students any time during the project. It was designed to be used as a reference to answer students' questions about how to plan for work or continued education following high school. Therefore, students in high school, and perhaps junior high school, would be most likely to benefit from a discussion of this chart.

chart of career paths

It is important to remember that there is no single path to follow. Students who work following high school may later decide to continue along the college path. Volunteering and taking courses based on interest are suggested for all students: those planning to begin their careers immediately following high school as well as those attending a two- or four-year college program.

The careers used as examples here were chosen for their varying degrees of required education and training beyond high school. Teachers are encouraged to include jobs from other vocational areas to provide students with a broad selection. If students would like to write additional biographies about people involved in bird studies, we would love to publish them, or even link to them, here.
